Ekaterina Kurtasova: for seven years, the volume of milk production in Vologda region has been constantly increasing

‘Today's milk production volumes are equal to those that Vologda region received in the mid-90s of the last century. The introduction of modern technologies for keeping and feeding cows and doing high-level selection and breeding of the herd for the first time in history made it possible to reach milk production of 7969 kg of milk per cow in agricultural organizations in 2020, which is 18% higher than the average in Russia,’ Ekaterina Kurtasova said.

At the same time, the expert noted, this year the agricultural producers of the region faced a number of difficulties that arose during seasonal field work, including in conditions associated with abnormally hot and dry weather, a sharp increase in the cost of agricultural products due to an increase in the cost of production components, as well as due to a personnel shortage at agricultural enterprises of the region.

We remind that according to Dairy Intelligence Agency, about 573,800 tons of milk was produced in Vologda region in 2020.

And today, Dairy Intelligence Agency also published data according to which, out of the TOP 15 largest regions in terms of raw milk production, according to the results of the first half of 2021, a decrease in milk production was observed in Krasnodar, Altai, Leningrad and Vologda regions.
