EkoNiva plans to take 25% of the market for rotary milking parlors
At the end of 2017, EkoNiva-Technika started developing a rotary milking parlor. Components from other world manufacturers are used to assemble equipment in Russia. This is a common practice all over the world, explained Bjerne Drexler, first Deputy General Director of EkoNiva Technika - holding. The development of the Niva-Rotor carousel was carried out in accordance with the requirements of the agricultural holding and the standards of adaptation to Russian conditions.
‘Our experience in milking cows is more than 20 years, and this plays a huge role in the development of this solution, said Bjerne Drexler in a comment to The DairyNews, saying that three milking parlours Niva-Rotor have already been installed, including one in Kaluga division of the agricultural holding.
The expert noted that the demand for rotary milking parlors is growing on the market.
"We have the opportunity to buy components directly from the manufacturer (excluding a whole chain of intermediaries) and sell the finished milking system to the customer. This makes our solution more interesting in terms of price. In the medium term, we plan to take a 25% share in the rotary milking parlor segment. I would like to note that "Niva-Rotor" is made with an emphasis on reducing the cost of spare parts and service. Competitors are trying to increase the cost due to this, we are trying to do everything in a comprehensive and universal way,’ said Bjerne Drexler, emphasizing that the company used a developed infrastructure with 23 branches, including warehouses and assembly shops, while working on new equipment.
Today in Russia, the leaders in traditional milking systems are the products of DeLaval company, which also takes the first place in the segment of milking robots according to data for 2018. However, other players are also increasing their market share, such as GEA and Lely, which opened an assembly plant for milking robots in Bashkiria in 2019.
