EU dairy industry considers intervention insufficient support measure – DIA
From March 1, 2020 (until September 30, 2020), interventions are being carried out in the EU dairy market. The EU set prices for the purchase of butter and skimmed milk powder at 2217.5 euros per ton of butter (190.13 rubles per kg at the exchange rate of March 29, 2020) and 1698 euros per ton of skimmed milk powder (145 rubles per kg), the maximum volume for butter - 50 thousand tons, for skimmed milk powder - 109 thousand tons.
However, the problem now is that the market prices for butter and skimmed milk powder are higher than the intervention prices and there are no purchases to the intervention fund yet. According to the European Commission on March 29, 2020, the average price of butter in the EU was 3420 euros per ton (293.23 rubles per kg at the exchange rate of March 29, 2020), the price of skimmed milk powder - 2180 euros per ton (186.9 rubles per kg). At the auction of Trigona Dairy Trade on April 3, 2020, the price of butter was 2800 euros per ton (240.07 rubles per kg at the exchange rate of April 3, 2020), the price of skimmed milk powder was 1800 euros per ton (154.3 rubles per kg).
Taking into account the dynamics of growth in raw milk production in the EU market and the dynamics of demand for milk, prices for skimmed milk powder and butter will also decrease in the market.
