Export of dairy products from Russia has decreased by 3%
The physical volume of exports is about 0.67 million tons (in terms of milk) in the amount of $284.1 million. A more significant decrease in the valuation is due to the downward price trend in the global dairy market.
The main external consumers of dairy products from Russia are the CIS countries (≈90% of exports), including Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Among the countries outside the CIS there are Mongolia, Georgia, Abkhazia and China. In 2018 there decreased shipments of skim milk powder (-38%), whey (-33%), dairy products (-21%) and fermented dairy products (-4%), whole milk powder (-16%), cottage cheese (-14%), butter (-7%), cheese (-5%). There increased exports of cheese products (+23%) and ice cream (+5%).
The main exported products are fermented dairy products, cheese and cottage cheese, ice cream, whole milk products, condensed milk and cheese products.
Exports of dairy products to China after a rapid growth in 2016 decreased in 2017 and remained at a relatively low level in 2018, although there is a relative increase compared to 2017 (+9% in terms of milk).
In total, in 2018 dairy products were delivered to China in the amount of $5.8 million, (-10.2% compared to 2017.
