FAO: price index for dairy products is declining for the third month in a row

The average value of the FAO price index for dairy products has continued to decline for a third month in a row and amounted to 196.2 points in August, which is almost three points (1.5%) below the July level, according to the information of the Food and agriculture organization of the United Nations reported by The DairyNews.
- Prices for butter, skimmed milk powder and whole milk powder continued to decline for the second month in a row, while prices for cheese rose slightly after a sharp decline in July. Recent price trends reflect the typical decline in market activity for this season, as well as uncertainty in the market regarding possible export supply. Droughts can have a negative impact on the growth of milk production in some parts of Europe and Australia, while in New Zealand, according to forecasts, in the season 2018-2019 there will be produced more milk than expected - emphasize FAO analysts.
In general, the FAO food price index remains stable in August.
