Food imports to Russia from abroad increased by 12.9% to $2.36 billion in December 2018 - FCS
"According to preliminary data of customs statistics, in 2018 the import of goods from foreign countries in value terms amounted to $ 211,965 billion and increased by 4.6% compared to 2017", the report said.
In December, the value of imports of goods from foreign countries amounted to $18,993 billion and increased by 4.9% compared to November. At the same time, imports of textiles and footwear increased by 23% and amounted to $ 1,049 billion, food products and raw materials for their production – by 12.9% to $ 2,366 billion, chemical products – by 6.8% to $ 3,484 billion.
In the group of food products and raw materials for their production, the import of vegetables increased 1.8 times, cereals – 1.6 times, fruits and nuts – by 49.2%, dairy products – by 35.7%, meat and offal – by 22.2%, sugar – by 1.3%. At the same time, imports of vegetable oil decreased by 9.8%, alcoholic and non – alcoholic beverages – by 6%, fish – by 5.4%, tobacco - by 1.8%.
Imports of chemical products increased due to the growth of purchases of perfumery and cosmetic products by 12.4%, pharmaceuticals - by 11.8%, organic and inorganic chemicals – by 4.6%, polymers and rubber – by 2.8%, while the purchase of soap and synthetic detergents decreased by 3.7%. Among textile products and footwear sales of shoes in December increased purchases by 48.3%, the sales of textile and clothing – by 31.9%, textiles – by 27.6%. The import of cotton decreased by 4.9%, finished textile products – by 3.8%.
In the imports of machinery products the procurement of aircraft increased two times, railway locomotives - by 44.4%, vessels and floating equipment – by 33.3%, optical instruments and equipment – by 12.5%, mechanical equipment – by 5.7%. At the same time, the supply of electrical equipment decreased by 12.8% and land transport – by 6.4%.
