According to the data of Rosstat, reported by The DairyNews, on October 1, agricultural enterprises of the Russian Federation produced 12.36 million tons of cattle milk.
According to the Agency, this is 3.6% more than during the same period of 2017. In September, small, medium and large agricultural enterprises produced 1.3 million tons of milk (+3%).
At the same time, milk yield per cow on October 1 in agricultural enterprises increased by 3.7%, amounting to 4628 kg during the nine months of the year on average in the country. In September the average milk yield per cow in Russia was 504 kg.
The number of cattle in the agricultural sector decreased by 1.1% to 8.26 million head, the number of cows decreased by 1.4% to 3.28 million head.
