The Ministry of agriculture has estimated that from 2013 to 2016 the profitability of agricultural production increased 2.2 times. As reported in the Ministry, the figure continues to grow. First and foremost, the benefits are felt by milk producers. The increase in profitability they explain with the increasing demand for raw materials.
Manufacturers of meat and vegetables said that the slow growth of exports does not allow to speak about increase of profitability.
According to the Ministry of agriculture, in 2016 the ratio between income and expenses amounted to 16.4%. This is 2.2 times more than in 2013 (when the figure was only 7.3%). As added in Ministry, profitability in the first quarter of 2017 exceeded last year's figures and amounted to 16.9%.
— It is too early to make the forecast for the whole year 2017, such a possibility will appear when we receive financial statements for the nine months, — said the press service of the Ministry of agriculture.
It was explained in the Ministry that profitability index is calculated based on the sum of profit before taxation and the cost of production and sale of goods. At the same time all activities related to farming are taken into account.
Producers of dairy products noted an increase in profitability. This was due to the growth in demand for domestic raw materials.
— In 2014, our domestic market is freed from the products supplied from the EU countries. Then the processors of raw milk had an increased need to purchase raw milk. And the results are as follows: if in 2013, the average profitability in our industry amounted to approximately 0%, in 2016 — it was already 20-25%, — said the Executive Director of the National Union of milk producers Artem Belov.
