From 2015 to 2019, milk sales in the world increased by 13%: from 231 to 260 million tons
The increase in milk sales in the world is associated with the growth of the world's population, as well as with economic development and the overall growth of human welfare. At the same time, the global dairy market has undergone significant transformations in recent years, taking place against the background of changing consumer preferences and shifting global demographic balance. Milk sales are growing in developing countries and declining in developed countries. The growing population of developing countries, coupled with the gradual economic development, taking place there, has forced milk producers to pay close attention to these markets. At the same time, in developed countries, the opposite effect is observed – sales show a decrease against the background of the widespread popularization of the idea of diet and healthy food, according to which some people refuse milk and dairy products due to the presence of sugar in their composition.
According to forecasts, in 2020-2024, milk sales in the world will grow on average by 1.3% per year and in 2024 will be 278.0 million tons. The trends in the retrospective period are expected to continue – a growth of milk sales in developing countries and contraction in the developed countries.
