Grain and dairy interventions will be carried out in the new season if necessary - Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation

"Intervention as a tool of the market in last decade works effectively. This also applies to cereals and intervention for the purchase of dairy products, if it is necessary. But more global is the creation of tools to regulate the domestic market of the country, including the dairy market, using the full potential of neighboring countries", - said Khatuov on the sidelines of the agro-industrial forum of the regions of the Ural Federal district in Yekaterinburg.

Answering the question about the plans of the Ministry of agriculture to carry out procurement interventions in the new agricultural year, Khautov said that this tool will be used for grain and dairy products, if necessary.

In Russia the mechanism of purchase and commodity interventions of grain has been working since 2001. Government interventions are used to stabilize prices for grain crops and support farmers. During the last year, however, representatives of the Ministry of agriculture called the purchase of grain in the Intervention Fund less effective tool compared to export support.

During the current agricultural year (it began on July 1, 2017 and will end on June 30, 2018) grain interventions were not carried out. Now the State Intervention Fund has about 4 million tons of grain. In addition, the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation has been considering the possibility of purchasing and commodity interventions in the market of milk and dairy products for several years.
