Hard and semi – hard cheeses make up 63% of the cheese basket of the Russian consumer - GFK expert
A fifth (20%) of the Russian cheese basket makes processed cheeses, after which the buyer prefers white cheeses (12%). The smallest part of the shopping basket is made by cheeses for spreading: only 5%.
The expert notes that more than half of the market in tonnage make yellow cheeses, and recently the growth in demand was shown by cottage cheese, in particular new products that have been on the shelves for less than 13 months.
According to Anastasia Jafarova, the observation regarding the growth in sales of cottage cheese can be explained by the fact that "the product is actively used and, in principle, is convenient for preparing various dishes. In addition, statistics show an increase in consumption of mozzarella, in contrast to blue cheese, which is gradually losing its audience.
On September 22, the opening of the WorldFood Moscow 2020 event took place. More than 300 companies took part in it, and the number of visitors on the first day alone was 20,685.
