IFCN: Milk production will grow to 1.1 billion tons by 2030
Torsten Hemme cited IFCN data, according to which milk production in the world will grow by 21% by 2030 compared to 2020 to 1.119 billion tons (the average annual growth rate is 1.99%), milk consumption by 2030 will amount to 1.120 billion tons.
Milk consumption per capita in 2030 will be 130 kg per year, which is 9% more than in 2020. The cumulative growth of milk consumption in the world will be provided not only by the growth of consumption per capita, but also by the growth of the population as such (8.6 billion people by 2030, +11% compared to 2020).
At the same time, the number of dairy cattle will decrease by 4% to 349 million animals, but the average productivity will increase by 25% to 3.1 tons per head per year, the expert added. The number of dairy farms will be reduced by 11% to 104 million. The average farm size will grow by 6% to 3.3 animals per farm.
Torsten Hemme noted that the dairy market is growing faster than forecasts. The volume of milk production, which IDC analysts predicted by 2025, will be reached in 2021.
