Imports of dairy products increased to 31% of the volume of the milk market in Russia

DIA analysts calculate the key indicator of the dynamics of the price of raw milk in the Russian market, Dairy Index DIA, based on the weighted average price of milk according to the Milk Price Index DIA application and import prices, the coefficients of the indicators are calculated based on the volume of imports of dairy products to Russia and the volume of raw milk production and are updated monthly.

According to the latest data from the Federal Customs Service, the import volume of butter, cheese, skimmed milk powder and whey powder has increased, only the import volume of whole milk powder has decreased. In calculating the import price, the shares of pairs cheese + whey and skimmed milk powder + butter increased, the share of whole milk powder decreased. It is worth noting that the volume of imports of cheaper Belarusian products has increased, which has restrained the growth of import prices. The import price increased by only 0.18% to 43.96 rubles/kg, compared to January 2021, the indicator is 24% higher. The weighted average price of milk in Russia, according to the Milk Price Index DIA application, increased by 0.3% to 29.88 rubles/kg, which is 13.3% higher than the price in January 2021.

At the same time, the share of import prices in the calculation of Dairy Index DIA increased from 26.16% to 31.16%, which became a key factor in the growth of the index. Dairy Index DIA on January 24, 2022 amounted to 34.27 rubles/kg (excluding VAT, fat - 3.6%, protein - 3.0%), which is 2.4% higher than last week and 17.2% higher than in January 2021.
