In 2019, Russian enterprises increased cheese production and reduced the production of cheese products

The output of cheese products has returned to the trend of recent years - to reduction of the dynamics of production. Despite the fact that in 2018 the country saw growth - up to 209 thousand tons, at the end of 2019, the production of cheese products decreased to 189.1 thousand tons. The growth of cheese production in the Russian Federation continues – by the results of 2019, the country produced 503.6 thousand tons.

 

In addition, the country continues to reduce the production of cottage cheese and cottage cheese products.

 

Just to compare - in 2018, domestic enterprises produced 490.4 thousand tons of cottage cheese and 264.1 thousand tons of cottage cheese products. In 2019, the production of cottage cheese decreased to 477 thousand tons, and cottage cheese products - to 263 thousand tons.

 

Production of processed cheeses in 2019 continued to decline - to 37.7 thousand tons instead of 38.5 thousand tons a year earlier.

 

The tendency to reduce the consumption of cheese products is marked by dairy plants in 2020. As it became known, a number of large enterprises are still maintaining the pace of production of cheese products, but noticed a significant decrease in customers in this category and an increase in consumption of natural cheeses.


As follows from the analytical data of the Dairy Intelligence Agency, the total production of dairy products in 2019 in the Russian Federation amounted to 24 million 229 thousand tons in terms of milk. At the same time, the volume of commercial milk production increased to 19.6 million tons, and the volume of processed milk was 19.65 million tons. DIA analysts estimate the demand for milk in Russia at 23.25 million tons.
