In Jan-Sept period production of milk in Russia totaled 24 mln tons
During the period from January to September 2014 raw milk production in all categories of Russian enterprises totaled 24.1 mln tons. This is according to Federal Service of State Statistics data. Among leading regions are the Republic of Tatarstan (771,498 tons) and Krasnodar Region (623,712 tons). Both regions increased volumes of production in comparison with the same period of the previous year.
Milk production in household enterprises is decreasing at the moment: during the period from January to September 2014 it totaled 11.5 mln tons what is 96.6% to the level of 2013. Milk production in peasant (private) enterprises increased 5.7% compared to 2013 and reached 1.48 mln tons.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture information, total cow population in the country in the end of 2013 amounted 8.66 mln heads (more than 4 mln – in household enterprises, 3,53 mln – in agricultural enterprises and more than 1 mln – in peasant enterprises).
