In January — May 2019 the volume of agricultural production in Russia increased by 1.2% compared to the same period in 2018 and amounted to 1 trillion 315.1 billion rubles, Rosstat said.
In May, the volume of agricultural production increased by 1% in annual terms and reached 352.8 billion rubles.
At the end of May the number of cattle on the farms of all agricultural producers amounted to 19.1 million animals, which is 1.4% less than a year earlier. In particular, the number of cows decreased by 0.9% — to 8.1 million, sheep and goats — by 4.7%, to 25 million. At the same time, the number of pigs, according to statistics, increased by 3.3%, to 25.1 million.
In January — May 2019, farms of all categories produced 5.7 million tons of livestock and poultry for slaughtering (live weight), 12 million tons of milk and 18.3 billion eggs.
