In May consumer prices for milk and dairy products rose by 0.2%

As follows from the materials of Rosstat, in comparison with April of the current year the growth of consumer prices for milk and dairy products amounted to 0.2%. Since the beginning of the year, this category rose by 3.2%, reports The DairyNews.
Compared to May 2016 milk and dairy products have risen in price for the consumer by 9.5%.
Butter in May became more expensive by 0.5%. Since the beginning of year growth of consumer prices was 6.8%. By May 2016 butter increased in price by 24.6%
In May a rise in the cost of fruits and vegetables had a significant influence on the growth of consumer prices. Out of observable kinds of vegetables and fruit prices have increased significantly for white cabbage – 1.4 times, potatoes, onions, carrots, beets – 1.2-1.3 times, lemons - by 11.1%, apples – by 7.5%. At the same time cucumbers fell by 26.4%, tomatoes – by 11.5%, garlic – by 5.6%, grapes, dried fruits, nuts and frozen vegetables – by 0.2 - 3.6%.
Among other observable kinds of food products ice cream increased in price by 1.1%, cheese curds glazed with chocolate - by 0.9%.
Reduction of prices was marked on all observable types of grain products: from 0.3% for polished rice to 3.8% for buckwheat. In addition, national cheeses and brynza became cheaper by 2.5%, beef and pork (except boneless meat), poultry, frozen and cut fish (except salmon breeds), salted herring, rennet, flour, tea, coffee beans and ground coffee, chewing gum, chocolate, caramel, beer of foreign brands – by 0.1-0.6%.
Overall, the consumer price index in May amounted to 100.4%, according to Rosstat.
