In the first months of 2020, the increase in production of natural cheeses was 15% - Soyuzmoloko
In 2019, 524 thousand tons of cheeses were produced, which is 12% higher than in 2018. Monthly production in January-February 2020 amounted to 43-44 thousand tons, while before the introduction of special economic measures in August 2014, this figure did not exceed 24 thousand tons.
According to the analytical center of Soyuzmoloko, production growth is provided both by increasing the capacity of existing enterprises and by implementing investment projects by a number of major manufacturers, including JSC "Agrocomplex" named after N. I. Tkachev, СJSC "Umalat", LLC "Komos Group", LLC "Hohland Russland", LLC "Foodland", JSC "WIMM-BILL-DANN", DMK, JSC "Molvest" and others.
"The growth trend in cheese production has been observed for several years", explained Artem Belov, General Director of Soyuzmoloko. - When import restrictions were imposed in 2014 and the ruble devalued, there was a real interest in the sector. Over the years, the Russian cheese industry has come a long way, many investors have bet on improving the quality of raw materials, retraining staff, inviting specialists from abroad, and steadily increasing volumes".
