JSC Dairy plant Myasnikovsky does not participate in the labeling experiment
‘If we talk about the problem of counterfeit goods, we do not see that it was at least significant and noticeable in the Russian dairy market. As for the problem of falsified dairy products, the Mercury system is trying to combat this, and labeling is not a helper. We do not participate in the labeling experiment,’ said Suren Obayan.
We will remind that a number of market experts note the positive properties of the labeling system for finished dairy products. For example, according to a market participant from the Republic of Dagestan, labeling can be useful because it will save the industry from falsification.
‘I think the labeling can really be useful to the buyer, in any case, it will save us from falsification on the shelves. The fact is that all our products are natural, and the presence of falsified products on the shelves hits us first - it creates price competition, and prices for products have to be reduced under market pressure. This way people will know exactly what they are buying,’ said the market participant.
The experiment on labeling finished dairy products, which began in July last year, completed its first stage on March 30, 2020. The second part of the experiment will last until the end of 2020, and dairy products will be labeled in 2021 (the corresponding government decree was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in March). According to the Ministry of industry and trade, more than 5 thousand companies joined the experiment. Most of them are retailers.
Earlier, The DairyNews reported that a number of companies deny their participation in the experiment on labeling of finished dairy products.
