The Director of the Department of animal husbandry and breeding of the Ministry of agriculture during the national conference "Improving the breeding base – the basis for the development of dairy cattle breeding" in St. Petersburg said that in the development of the dairy industry "there is no particular shift," reports The DairyNews from the event.
According to Kharon Amerkhanov in the 1st quarter of 2017 there was noted the positive dynamics of milk production at agricultural enterprises and on individual farms. In all categories of farms, milk production increased by 1.5%.
The maximum increase in the number of cows during this period was noted in Bryansk, Novosibirsk and Voronezh regions. While in Bashkortostan the number of cows has decreased by 10 thousand heads.
"The genetic potential of today is implemented as 47%. The average milk yield per cow in 17 regions is more than 6 thousand kg per year. The average production of cows on breeding farms is nearly 7,500 kg," said Kharon Amerkhanov.
The Director of the Department of animal husbandry and breeding of the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation stressed that by 2020 the challenge is to bring the average milk production up to 6 thousand kg / cow per year.
However, opening the meeting first Deputy Minister of agriculture of Russia Dzhambulat Khatuov said that almost every region has a road map for the development of the industry for several years.
Earlier, Kharon Amerkhanov said that by 2020 Russia will be able to produce 31.9 million tons of milk.
