Konstantin Laikam: the concentration of land on large farms is going on in Russia

Deputy Head of Rosstat Konstantin Laikam during a press conference on the results of the all-Russian agricultural census said that the process of concentration of land on the largest farms continues in Russia. It is about both the agricultural enterprises and peasant farm holdings, reports The DairyNews.
According to the results of all-Russian agricultural census - 2016, the number of agricultural enterprises with more than 10 thousand hectares is about 3 thousand (9% of the total number of enterprises owning land), but they account for about 80% of the land.
In the sector of individual entrepreneurs and peasant farm holdings, the share of farms with more than 3 thousand hectares of land is 1.5%, they account for about a third of the land.
- The total number of farmland decreased over 10 years (from 2006 to 2016) by 14% in farms of all categories and amounts to 142.7 million hectares. 88 million hectares are in use, - said Konstantin Laikam.
