Though Russian temporary ban on dairy products import from this country didn’t have disastrous effects on Lithuania’s economy, say Lithuanian experts. The country managed to avoid bankruptcies and to realize extra volumes on the local market and in other countries.
Russia suspended imports of dairy products from Lithuania on 7 October because the products’ content didn’t coincide with the data on the package. Some products also didn’t meet CU technical regulations requirements on dairy products. Products under the brand Svalia by Pieno Zvaigzdes were also put under the ban. Lithuania is expecting negotiations with Rosselkhoznadzor regarding the restrictions to take place.
