LLC Ecofarm Dubrovskoe starts breeding cows of the Red Danish breed for the production of premium cheeses
The first agricultural enterprise, which had focused on this breed, was LLC Ecofarm Dubrovskoe in Kiyasovo district. The first batch of 160 heifers arrived here, today they are undergoing a 30-day quarantine, which will end on September 12. After that, the animals will go to live in the new premises of a large livestock complex for 1200 head. Danish purebred beauties will be kept in building No. 3 with a maternity unit and a milking parlour.
Earlier, specialists from Dubrovskoe selected 113 more Danish heifers online, and they will arrive at the farm on September 25. In addition, in early October, the first calving is already expected here. Why Red Danish? They explain their choice by the fact that this breed has the best ratio of health and raw milk suitability for cheese making. ‘For the production of premium cheeses, which we plan to produce, we need special raw materials – high levels of fat and protein. And Red Danish cows give milk with a fat content of up to 4%, the mass fraction of protein exceeds 3%,’ says Anatoly Nosulenko, Director of LLC Ecofarm Dubrovskoe.
For a long time, only two breeds of dairy animals were bred in Udmurtia – Kholmogorskaya and Black-and-white. In recent years, there has been an active holstinization of local livestock. Now the Udmurt livestock specialists raise purebred Holstein cows. As well as Jersey cows, which were also brought from Denmark last year. The agricultural production cooperative Zarya in Mozhga district and LLC Mir in Votkinsk district were first to raise Jersey breed of cows.
