Manturov: the experiment on the labeling of dairy products in Russia will begin in late 2018-early 2019
"We expect that in the near future the government will take a decision (on the timing of labeling of finished dairy products - ed.), in the pilot mode it will continue until the end of next year. We expect the project to begin its pilot work either at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year", he said.
Since July 1, 2018, manufacturers in the Russian Federation must issue veterinary certificates for animal products in electronic form in the "Mercury" system. The requirement affects producers of meat and milk, meat products and other goods. Finished dairy products were also proposed to be included in the list of products that are accompanied by electronic certificates, but in the end they were removed from the list.
For finished dairy products, it was proposed to conduct a labeling experiment, but the pilot project has not been launched yet. In mid-November, the Ministry of industry and trade reported that the pilot project can start in December this year.
