Medvedev: Russia is fully provided with its own grain and meat

This was stated by Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting of the Collegium of the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation.

"We have significantly progressed in the implementation of each of the main objectives of the state program of agriculture development, we have strengthened food security of our country very significantly lately", - stated the Prime Minister.

"We provide ourselves with grain, potatoes, sugar, vegetable oil and meat - that's five out of eight indicators of Food Security Doctrine," said he. The Prime Minister stressed that "at the end of last year the sufficiency became even higher."

The Russian Federation has all possibilities to maintain and increase the growth pace of production in agriculture, also said the Prime Minister. "The agricultural sector is developing dynamically, only last year's growth of agricultural products amounted to more than 4%. And we have all the opportunities not to only maintain but also to increase the pace of growth," he said.

Earlier, Medvedev said that the government will continue to implement measures for the development of animal husbandry. "I have no doubt that after a while we will become a country, which will be called a net-exporter. That is, we will buy almost nothing, except for some goods that have a very narrow segment of users," - said the head of government.
