Milk Deficit Map-2015: Milk surplus in Altay Region reached 378.6 thousand tons

The DairyNews has released the Milk Deficit Map-2015 in English. Altay Region ranks first among self-sufficient regions: in 2015 its raw milk surplus totaled 378.6 thousand tons.
According to the Center for the Study of Dairy Market of The DairyNews (CSDM), milk deficiency in Russia in 2015 totaled 8.2 million tons. CSDM calculates region’s self-sufficiency index basing on volumes of production and region’s demand in raw milk. The demand is estimated on the basis of population size and milk consumption per capita.
The most deficit Russian regions from the point of view of self-sufficiency in milk are Moscow and Leningrad Regions. In 2015 milk deficiency in Moscow and Moscow Region reached 3.9 million tons, in Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad Region – 1.6 million tons.
