Milk shortage in Russia totals 8.2 million tons, according to Milk Deficiency Map

The Milk Deficiency Map is an analytical tool illustrating the balance of production and consumption of milk in Russian regions and milk self-sufficiency in each region.
 
“In the course of working on research and information bulletin “White Book” Center for the Study of Dairy Market of The DairyNews has worked out a new calculation formula of regions’ milk and cheese self-sufficiency. Instead of average index of annual milk consumption per capita, calculated by IDF for all Russian Federation territory, the Center decided to use an index of milk consumption per capita, calculated for each RF constituent territory. This approach allows to define more precisely the real level of regional raw milk self-sufficiency”, - noted Yekaterina Zakharova, Senior Analyst of the Center for the Study of Dairy Market.

According to the Center information, milk shortage in Russia in 2015 reached -8.2 million tons.

The Map is distributed among all dairy market participants at such events as: Dairy Olympics, Silage School, Management School, Rally ‘Way for Milk’, and also at major industry trade-shows.
