“Milk wars” to make Belorussia stronger

“Milk wars” with Russia will make Belorussian companies stronger, as it used to be before. Starting from August, 13th Rosselkhoznadzor banned import of products from three companies – Volkovysskoye OAO Bellakt, OAO Rogachyovsky Molochno-Konservny Kombinat and PUP Kalinkovichsky Molochny Kombinat. Before it became known that Belorussia has retracted declaration of compliance for 15 companies producing dried dairy products.
According to market participants, competition is on a large scale determined by the government support. During the summer period the market is balanced in terms of dried milk volumes, it is unlikely that the supplies are closed for a long time, they say.
Aleksander Polyak from Russian Dairy Union (RSPMO) believes, that the measure is temporary, and it hasn’t yet influenced the market of skimmed milk powder.
