Ministry of Agriculture: Raw milk price in Russia grew 7.5% year to date
Raw milk average purchase price in RF increased by 7.5% since the start of the year. In September it grew 4.2% and reached 16 rubles per kg (without VAT). This is according to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture data.
A year ago the price was around 13 rubles per kg, in 2011 and 2010 – around 15 rubles per kg.
In September 2013 the total milk yield in all types of agricultural enterprises decreased by 8.5% compared to the same period in 2012 and reached 2.8 mln tons. During the first 9 months of the current year it fell by 4% to 24.4 mln tons.
Industrial production of whole-milk products (on milk basis) during the period from January to September 2013 reached 8.79 mln tons (+2.9%). However cheese production decreased by 8.4% to 317.6 thousand tons, butter – by 2% to 163.7 thousand tons.
