Minsk and Moscow may cancel forecast balances on food supplies
"Taking into account the fact that it is planned to sign roadmaps, the format of these balances may be slightly changed. We will see how much we need them in general", said Khotko, as quoted by BelTA News Agency.
He said that in the near future there will be held a meeting with the Minister of agriculture of Russia, where this issue is going to be discussed. "Everything is possible, we are preparing for such a mechanism of transparency of supplies, and we are setting ourselves up to the fact that there is a possibility of cancellation of these balances", the Minister said. We are coordinating our common agricultural policy, and there is a question of their necessity".
Khotko also informed that the parties are now working on the balance of food supplies for 2020. Referring to the work on the road map, Khotko said that currently there is a "discussion and adjusting of all regulatory documents." "I will not say that there are no problems, but there are working issues, and we are trying to solve them at the bilateral level", the Minister said.
As previously reported by Minister of agriculture of Russia Dmitry Patrushev, the trade turnover of agricultural products and food between the two countries in 2018 increased by almost 8 percentage points and amounted to more than $ 5 billion. During the first quarter of this year, the trade turnover also increased, approaching the level of 1.3 billion dollars. At the same time, the Minister has noticed that deliveries of Belarusian goods considerably exceed Russian exports in the Belarusian market, therefore, in order to promote mutual interests of the trade of agricultural products between Belarus and Russia the mechanism of making the forecast balances of supply and demand has been used for many years.
