Natalia Utkina: in 2020, about 26.2 thousand tons of Russian ice cream were exported
However, the expert stressed that our exports have good potential.
‘During the Soviet period, a lot of ice cream was sold to America, Israel, Europe. But as a result of Perestroika, we lost exports and are starting to restore it only now. In 2020, 26.2 thousand tons of ice cream were exported, the share of exports is not very high yet,’ she said
According to the expert, Kazakhstan remains the main export market for our ice cream makers, 11.2 thousand tons of ice cream were delivered there in 2020. The volume of exports to America is also growing, and this direction will actively develop.
‘Taking into account the geography of ice cream supplies to the CIS countries, it is important to say that manufacturers should increase their presence in order to eliminate the gap that formed after the collapse of the USSR,’ Natalia Utkina concluded.
As for the import of ice cream, it is slightly lower than the volume of exports. Among the key importers of ice cream to Russia is Belarus with the third of the market, France and Switzerland took the second and third place.
Earlier, The DairyNews, with reference to the Soyuzmoloko rating, reported that in the first half of 2021, the export growth rate was about 22%.
