Russian Ministry of Agriculture sees no reason why the country should lift the food embargo. According to the Ministry’s head Nikolay Fyodorov, the embargo motivated Russian companies to increase volumes of production, in particular cheese production grew in 2014 by 15%.

The Minister believes it’s early to lift the ban. “I don’t see a strong reason to lift the embargo”, - he said. Since August 2014 import of agricultural products in Russia decreased by 4.1 bln dollars.
