Oleg Dymar: Polish companies will compete with the Belarusian dairy industry in Ukraine
‘For example, a wonderful scenario, it is voiced by representatives of the Ministry of agriculture and food of the Republic of Belarus. According to it, about 8,750,000 tons of milk will be processed this year, and about 11,500,000 by 2030. Is it possible? Yes, it is possible. Is it likely? I'm not sure,’ says Oleg Dymar.
According to him, it is likely that everything in the industry will remain as it is in the next five years. At the same time, the global economic, social and cultural crisis, the achieved limits of growth of the dairy industry of the Republic of Belarus - this is what this is what there is in reality.
‘In the short term (up to six months), we can predict the absence of large fluctuations. Still, the market capacity of the Russian Federation is quite large and there are no significant sharp fluctuations on it. However, there are trends. One of them is the objective growth of Russia's own milk production. While maintaining the purchasing power of the population, this means a reduction in imports. Yes, efforts to promote milk to the masses - "Three dairy products a day" - are and will continue to pay off,’ says Oleg Dymar, emphasizing the importance of the program implemented by the industry association Soyuzmoloko.
According to the expert, the reduction (replacement) of supplies from Belarus to Russia is an objective trend for the next three to five years. Closer to the end of this period, we can predict the appearance of a significant number of dairy products from Russia in Belarusian stores.
As for the possibility of the Belarusian dairy industry to enter the Ukrainian shelves, Oleg Dymar notes that Polish dairy enterprises are very aggressive and clearly operating on the Ukrainian market.
‘I am not sure that it will be possible to sell Belarusian dairy products to Ukraine in significant quantities. The situation is somewhat different for exchange-traded goods, but Ukraine is not a major buyer of exchange-traded goods. Rather the opposite,’ says Oleg Dymar.
