On Belorussia’s WTO accession agricultural sector support will be saved
Belarusian agricultural sector support will be saved after Belarus’ accession to the World Trade Organization. This statement was made by Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats.
Taking into account Belarus’ WTO accession it is necessary make sure the level of support is matching the regulatory documents, which are adopted by WTO member states, said the Minister. “This is why the Agriculture and Food Ministry is working on certain approaches, in particular, to support the real economy sector, - explained Leonid Zayats. - The matter is regularly discussed, with partners in the Customs Union as well. The support mechanism, which is compliant with the main documents concerning the accession to the World Trade Organization, is being worked out”.
Leonid Zayats said that Belarus’ membership in WTO will not automatically eliminate agricultural sector support – it will be available to all the economic operators involved in agriculture. Equal conditions will be enabled for private and state-run farming enterprises.
