Dairy processing shared the third place with producers of vegetable oil and vegetable fats, seriously inferior in terms of investment to producers of beverages and meat.

‘Now there is a big increase in investment in dairy processing, it is overtaking meat producers and significantly beverage producers,’ the expert noted. ‘In general, over the past 10 years, more than 250 billion rubles have been invested in the industry. Every fifth ruble is invested in the production of cheeses, the total investment in the cheese segment amounted to 50 billion rubles. This segment will continue to develop very dynamically in the future and companies producing cheese will begin to occupy an increasing share in the ranking of the largest dairy producers.

According to analytical studies, a significant amount of investment - more than 172 billion rubles over the past 10 years have been invested in the production of traditional and whole-milk products, which is also reflected in the rating.

According to Dairy Intelligence Agency, 20.3 million tons of raw milk were processed in Russia in 2020. This is 2% more than in 2019 and 27.7% more than in 2013. The key factor of dynamics in the processing market is demand, but the state has a serious influence as the initiator of various mechanisms of control over business and as a source of financing and support for selected players.
