Pavel Grudinin: science in animal husbandry is moving forward, but we are still in the background
"We would like to increase milk production per cow for next year. We are among the 200 best robotic dairy farms in the world, so the result can be improved", said Pavel Grudinin, quoted by The DairyNews.
The “State Farm named after Lenin” currently produces about 10900 liters per cow per year on eight robotic installations.
"How to become the best in the world? Next year in July we will receive the first cloned calves. We will become one of the first farms in Russia and in the world who is engaged in this technology. We successfully transplanted such animals - these are genetic copies of our best cow, which gave about 70 liters of milk a day and lived four lactations. It is quite an interesting technology; in a number of countries they have already received the second generation of such animals. This is a kind of genetic elevator, which will allow you to get the result much faster. It is reasonable for us to work with those animals that were born here with us", said Danila Kozlov, Deputy Director for animal husbandry of the “State Farm named after Lenin".
"We need to develop our herd, and not to import thousands of heads from abroad", said Pavel Grudinin.
