Pension reform should not affect the companies from agribusiness sector, analyst
- In General, the pension reform will affect the villagers as well as the citizens. The differences will be the result of existing differences in living standards, and not some features of the pension reform as such. Life expectancy in rural areas is 71 years (73 in urban areas). Raising the retirement age will affect everyone equally - rural residents used to live on pension less than urban residents, and it will stay like that after the reform. The average pension in rural areas is also lower, as wages are lower. The indexation of the insurance part of pensions promised by the government should allow to reduce the gap between the average pensions in cities and rural areas, - said Kirill Kononov.
The analyst reminded that the government has already proposed to increase insurance pensions in rural areas based on work experience by 25%. However, in 2016 this decision was postponed until January 1, 2020 (mainly due to the deficit of the Pension Fund, which they did not want to increase further). Putin, de facto, proposed to accelerate the introduction of the law by a year.
We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin made an appeal to the citizens of the country and announced a number of measures to mitigate the pension reform.
- It was regularly discussed and even the decision was made on the need for a 25-percent premium to a fixed payment of insurance pension for non-working pensioners living in rural areas who have at least 30 years of seniority in agriculture. But the entry into force of this decision was postponed. I propose to initiate these payments since January 1, 2019, - said Vladimir Putin.
