PepsiCo sold Kharkovsky dairy plant
"Yesterday, finally, there was a deal to sell Kharkovsky dairy plant by PepsiCo. The Antimonopoly Committee approved the sale of a property complex in Kharkov to the company Agroswit - wrote Maxim Fasteev. – We were waiting for official confirmation, although the plans for the sale of the plant have been known for more than a year. In autumn the equipment from Kharkov began to move to the main site of Wimm-Bill-Dann Ukraine in Vishnevoye (Kiev region), for the last six months, the company considered several proposals, in the spring the choice was made in favor of Agroswit".
According to the analyst, it is not clear for an outside observer, taking into account the portfolio of the company Agroswit (agroswit.com.ua), why the company, which is based in Kirovograd region and specializes in the sale of seeds, plant protection products and fertilizers, needs a dairy plant?
"I will explain – one of the founders of Agroswit, Viktor Zverev – a citizen of Kharkov, who worked and is related to the regional administration, unofficially affiliated to a number of agricultural enterprises of Kharkov region (about 50-80 tons of milk per day). Thus, Agroswit receives a plant with a traditional product range (as far as I know, PepsiCo abandoned Kharkov lines for bottling in plastic, but did not give TM Romol), the possibility of expansion, and also already has a raw material safety cushion", said the analyst.
According to Maxim Fasteev, for the first time "producer" of raw milk is to own a fairly large business on processing. Taking into account this deal, knowing about the specific intentions of a large latifundist in Western Ukraine and the long-standing desires of individual agricultural holdings, we can state the beginning of a new format of relations "production-processing of milk" in the country".
