PepsiCo will donate about $ 5 million to fight COVID-19 in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Transcaucasia and Central Asia
Neil Sturrock, President of PepsiCo Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Caucasus and Central Asia: "COVID-19 is a common problem, and we, as one of the largest food and beverage producers in the world and in our region, cannot stay away. The company makes serious efforts to ensure the most secure work of employees and uninterrupted supply of food to grocery stores. I am sure that our charity initiatives will also help the overall fight against the pandemic".
In Russia, more than 150 million rubles will be spent on supporting medical institutions in 30 regions of the country, namely, providing medical equipment, personal protective equipment, and water for medical workers and patients.
Together with the Food Fund “Rus’” and with the support of the Global Fund PepsiCo, the company will provide 690,000 portions of food and company products to people in need who are in self-isolation.
The company will provide financial assistance for the purchase of medical equipment and personal protective equipment for hospitals and medical staff, as well as provide the company's products and food packages to doctors and people in self-isolation in Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Belarus. Additional funds to support medical staff will be provided in Ukraine with the support of the Global Fund PepsiCo Foundation.
To date, the company has done a lot of work to support the population in the fight against COVID-19. In Russia and Ukraine, thanks to the joint work of PepsiCo and food funds, about a million portions of the company's products have been handed over to the population at risk. Monetary compensation for part of the logistics costs of the Food Fund “Rus’” allowed the non-profit organization to distribute food aid to people in need in Russia without interruption. 150 families in Georgia have already received food packages.
Encouraging everyone's desire to help people in difficult situations, the company has launched a program of individual employee donations. The funds raised will be used to support people in need of assistance during the pandemic.
PepsiCo's assistance in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Transcaucasia, and Central Asia is part of a previously announced global support of more than $ 45 million to people and regions most severely affected by the virus. The company finances vital support services, including providing personal protective equipment for healthcare workers, conducting tests and examinations, and distributes more than 50 million food packages to groups of population at risk through support from charities around the world.
