Popova announced the start of the experiment on the labeling of dairy products
According to her, it will help to rid the market of falsified goods. Earlier, Head of the Ministry of industry and trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov said that finished dairy products will not fall under the system of obligatory electronic veterinary certification, but it will be labelled with a digital code.
"Now a pilot project for dairy products is being developed. The application of an identification mark on each package without increasing the cost of what we are talking about today and what we are promised by the developers of this technology, will ensure full transparency of the market and ensure the presence of only those goods on the shelves that actually passed all the technological procedures and state regulation", said Popova in an interview on a course of the World Economic Forum.
"Unfortunately, today there are still a lot of goods that get on the shelf illegally. It does not mean that someone somewhere cheated in the preparation of the product, but this product is made illegally and got on the shelf, was imported into the country not in a proper way", Popova explained.
According to her, the pilot project should start in the coming months. "And we hope that it will give its results at the beginning of next year. We make every effort to achieve this", she said.
In 2016 the EEU countries introduced obligatory labelling of fur coats and fur products with RFID-tags. In addition, experiments on the labeling of drugs (QR-code), cigarettes and shoes (two-dimensional code Data Matrix) have been launched in Russia. Until 2024, Russia is expected to create a system of continuous labeling and traceability of goods.
