I do not agree that our countermeasures can be considered sanctions, they are countermeasures to protect our market", - said Vladimir Putin, emphasizing that the government have deliberately imposed restrictions on the supply of agricultural products and food from Europe, which is an asymmetric response.

The Russian President stressed that the introduction of countermeasures has led to tangible results.

"We noticed the increase in agricultural output by 3.6% per year", - said the President.

Putin stressed that if earlier Russia imported 1,400 tons of poultry meat, now there is a question about exporting this product abroad. "We gave a chance to domestic producers to restore their own strength, with the support of the authorities, and take positions on our own market", - said Vladimir Putin.

Recall that currently the food embargo of the Russian Federation is valid until January 1, 2018
