President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed the law on counter-sanctions, the relevant document was published on Monday on the official portal of legal information.
According to the document, the Russian President will be able to impose a ban or suspend international cooperation with unfriendly foreign states, as well as with organizations that are "directly or indirectly" under the jurisdiction of unfriendly foreign states.
There may also be a ban or restriction on the import and, accordingly, the export of products or raw materials by organizations that are under the direct or indirect jurisdiction of unfriendly foreign states.
The President will be able to introduce a ban or restriction for organizations under the direct or indirect jurisdiction of unfriendly foreign states to participate in the government contract and privatization.
The last item in the list of counter-sanctions measures is an instruction that the President of the Russian Federation has the right to take "other measures" of influence.
The law does not apply to vital goods, analogues of which are not produced in the Russian Federation, as well as to goods imported by citizens for personal use.
According to the law, a Russian company with any share of foreign participation may fall under counter-sanctions.
This law was adopted by the State Duma on May 22 and approved by the Federation Council on May 30.
