Proposed for the post of Deputy Prime Minister for agriculture Alexey Gordeev will combine this post with the post of Minister of agriculture, told the source in the industry to RBC. Information that Gordeev can lead the Ministry of agriculture instead of Alexander Tkachev, was confirmed to RBC by Federal official and a source close to the Ministry. The source of “RIA Novosti” in the State Duma also informed about the possible combination of the posts of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister by Gordeev. According to him, Tkachev "is unlikely to remain a minister".
Earlier, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting with the faction “United Russia” named the candidates for the post of Deputy Prime Ministers of the new government. Medvedev proposed to appoint presidential plenipotentiary envoy to the Central Federal district and ex-Governor of Voronezh region Alexey Gordeev Deputy Prime Minister for agriculture a Deputy Prime Minister.
Gordeev already combined two positions: under Vladimir Putin's first presidential term, he was Vice-Premier and Minister of agriculture in the Cabinet of Mikhail Kasyanov from 2000 to 2004. The new government already has this configuration: as reported by RBC sources, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, nominated for the post of the first Deputy Prime Minister, can remain a Minister.
A source close to the Ministry of agriculture confirms: "This can be. Gordeev is experienced, we should not worry about it".
There are no systemic claims to Tkachev's work, but his candidacy is being discussed for the post of presidential plenipotentiary envoy to the Southern Federal district, says another interviewee of RBC.
"It is difficult to imagine how Tkachev will agree with the second role in the management of the industry, when there will relevant Deputy Prime Minister above him— said the chief editor of "Agroinvestor" Nikolai Lychev. "However, there were no public statements about Tkachev's desire to resign and there was no dissatisfaction with the Minister in the industry community."
The press service of the Ministry of agriculture refused to comment. A source in the Ministry of agriculture did not confirm the information on the possibility of combining two posts by Gordeyev.
Gordeev is not a reformer, but an innovator, so his appointment is a political signal that there will be no radical changes in the industry, Lychev believes. "There will be profound measures to rationalize the existing support measures", he thinks.
