In April, the average receipt showed a large growth, adding 31 rubles (+5.4%). Thus, it was equal to 601 rubles. For the year, the average receipt also increased by 44 rubles or 7.9%, reported in the press service of “Romir” to The DairyNews.

In April, contrary to the tradition of the last three years, the average receipt showed growth. During the month, its amount increased by 31 rubles (+5.4%), reaching the level of 601 rubles. Over the year, the amount of the average receipt also increased: compared to April last year, the receipt increased by 44 rubles or by 7.9%.

The average receipt of Russians is growing due to the fact that people go shopping not so often against the background of self-isolation and impulse purchases with a low receipt have almost disappeared. In addition, some households previously purchased "in reserve"

Such growth compared to March, however, was not recorded in all regions. Thus, the Far Eastern Federal district (-2.1%) showed a decrease along with the Southern and North Caucasus Federal district (-1.6%). In the Siberian Federal district, the average receipt for the month has not changed much. The average receipt is growing steadily in the Central Federal district (+10.0%) and North-Western Federal district (+8.7%). In all regions, compared to last year, there is an increase in the average receipt. Compared to April 2019, the average receipt is growing the most in the Volga Federal district (+14.1%), North-Western Federal district (+11.2%) and the Ural Federal district (+7.2%). In the other districts, the receipt did not grow at an abnormal rate, which shows a significant difference in the response to the government's precautionary measures regarding the coronavirus epidemic.

Moscow showed extremely high growth rates of the average receipt: 117 rubles (15.0%) compared to last month and 156 rubles (21.1%) compared to last year. High growth rates are also observed in St. Petersburg: 72 rubles (9.8%) compared to last month and 93 rubles (12.9%) compared to last year.

Speaking about the types of cities, it is worth noting that large cities with millions of people have become the driver of growth in the average receipt in all districts (+3.6%). Cities with populations between 500 and a million, on the contrary, showed a drop compared to March (-2.5%). Towns with population around one hundred thousand people registered a minimal increase in the average receipt (+0.8%). In terms of the year, all types of cities registered growth: +10.1%, +2.7% and +6.1%, respectively.

In terms of channels, the largest increase in receipts is noticed in Discounters: 73 rubles (+18.1%) compared to last month and 113 rubles (+31.0%) compared to last year. The growth was slightly smaller in other formats of modern trade: Supermarkets (+15.7%) and Hypermarkets (+13.5%). The smallest growth is observed in general retail chains: +5.9% compared to last month and compared to last year.
