Rospotrebnadzor: the share of falsification of dairy products does not exceed 8%

The share of falsification of dairy products by non-dairy fats in Russia does not exceed 8%. This was reported by The DairyNews with reference to the information of the Rospotrebnadzor, submitted on the basis of the inspection carried out on behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation.
We will remind that in March on behalf of Arkady Dvorkovich, who was in charge of the agro-industrial complex in the Government, there was held an inspection of dairy products. The inspection, which was to become a part of the reform of control and supervisory activities, was carried out by Roskachestvo, the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Rospotrebnadzor.

The Rospotrebnadzor explained today that the study related to the following categories of dairy products: cottage cheese of 9%, drinking milk of 3.2%, butter of 72.5% fat, including about 250 federal and regional brands.

The results showed that the vast majority of milk and butter samples meet all mandatory requirements (72 samples of milk from 90 selected; 53 samples of butter from 82 selected).

There was identified discrepancy in the category "cottage cheese" according to microbiological parameters, indicating that the violation of the requirements for conditions of transportation and storage.

In addition, the Agency checked dairy products for antibiotics. Excess in the amount of antibacterial substances was detected in 5 samples of milk, 9 samples of cottage cheese and 2 samples of butter. Causes are failure to comply with the requirements of raw materials or the impossibility of carrying out receiving control of milk with long high-precision methods in respect of each incoming batch.

The Rospotrebnadzor stressed that the research did not reveal any sample of dairy products that did not meet the requirements for the presence of pathogenic microorganisms, including Salmonella or Listeria. The presence of toxic elements: lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, iron and copper (in butter), pesticides, mycotoxins and melamine in no sample exceeded the values normalized by technical regulations. There was not revealed a single sample with an excess of the regulatory values of the radiological indicators of caesium-137 and strontium-90.

It is important to note that according to the research of the service, falsification with non-dairy fats was detected only in 8 samples of milk from 90 samples, in 6 samples of cottage cheese from 73 samples, that is, it does not exceed 8%. Thus, information on mass falsification of dairy products with vegetable fats is not confirmed, the Ministry stressed.
