Rosselkhoznadzor may ban import of dairy and meat products from Norway
Rosselkhoznadzor is forced to tighten safety control over dairy and meat products imported from Norway. This is according to Aleksey Alekseyenko, Rosselkhoznadzor's representative.
Rosselkhoznadzor is not satisfied with the level of guaranties provided by Mattilsynet, Norwegian Food Safety Authority. Aleksey Alekseyenko added, that absence of sufficient state guaranties proving safety of products from Norway may cause ban of milk and meat supplies from this country. Earlier it was decided to adopt joint electronic systems of products certification and traceability, but Mattilsynet did nothing to bring it into force.
In 2012 and 2013 Russia was the largest importer of Norwegian fish. In 2013 supplies increased by 10% and reached 1.06 bln dollars.
