"Rusmolko" will increase milk production by a third
In August, the company began construction of a dairy complex in Penza region worth 4.5 billion rubles. According to its own data, it will become the largest closed-cycle dairy complex in Russia. The first stage is planned to be launched this year, the second - in the fourth quarter of 2020, says the top manager. At the first stage there will be constructed premises for 2.5 thousand cows, the second stage assumes expansion of milking herd to 5.2 thousand cows, thus the total livestock will reach 10.4 thousand animals. When the complex reaches full capacity, the gross yield of “Rusmolko” will reach 160 thousand tons.
The total number of cattle in the company this year will increase by 8.5% to 22.2 thousand animals. "During the year milk production also showed a positive trend, the average yield per cow will be 10.8 tons (10.4 tons in 2018), - says Sumanta De. — We see prospects for further growth in dairy farming".
This year was also successful for “Rusmolko” in crop production. The gross harvest of technical and fodder crops amounted to 550 thousand tons, the company reached a record yield of sugar beet (55 t / ha), corn (8 t/ha), sunflower (3 t/ha) for Penza region, said CEO of the agricultural holding. This year, the company actively invested in new technologies and equipment for the production of roughage, which allowed making more than 225 thousand tons of alfalfa, hay, straw, silage, moisture corn. "Full self-sufficiency with roughage of own production creates a stable basis for the business: this will allow the company to produce the planned volumes of milk of consistently high quality next year and manage its cost", — said Sumanta De.
This year, predictable weather conditions have allowed the company to plan accurately key production processes, but the price situation for the main crops is a concern, he admits. "This is especially true of record low prices for sugar and technical crops - sunflower and soybeans, - says the top manager. "Milk and grain prices remained more stable, which allowed the company to achieve its planned financial results and continue its investment program".
In the future, “Rusmolko” plans to develop business in all areas: milk production, roughage, agricultural crops production, and seed production. The company is also implementing a project on reproduction of the herd within its own genetic program, said Sumanta De.
"Russian dairy company" ("Rusmolko") was founded by Naum Babayev in 2007. In 2012, 75% of the company was bought by Singapore holding Olam International, and this year it increased its share to 100%. Then it was reported that Olam plans to double the volume of milk production on farms of "Rusmolko" in the next three years. The company intends to overcome the mark of 500 tons per day and enter the top 3 manufacturers. In 2018, the gross yield was 85 thousand tons, the number of cattle at the end of the year - 20.5 thousand animals. There are 156 thousand ha of land under the management of "Rusmolko", it is the 28th place in the BEFL ranking of the largest Russian landowners.
