Russia and Belarus may conduct unscheduled audit of Lithuanian dairy plants by the end of the year
An unscheduled inspection of Lithuanian dairy plants by Russian and Belorussian experts can be conducted by the end of the current year, head of Rosselkhoznadzor veterinary authority Sergey Dankvert told on Sunday.
Dankvert said that the time of the inspections will depend on the timetable of inspections in other countries, but he hopes them to take place this year. Special attention will be paid to supplies of raw milk to Lithuanian dairy facilities allowed to export their products to Russia.
This year Lithuania increased significantly exports of cheese to Russia. For the first time they can reach 40,000 tons while in the past they did not exceed 26,000-30,000 tons a year. This has prompted the suspicion that exporters to Russia are using milk solids from facilities that are not included in the register of suppliers to Russia, including European ones. If these suspicions are verified, deliveries will be restricted, Dankvert said.
