Russia can export record 40 million tons of grain, including 29.2 million tons of wheat in the 2017/2018 marketing year, reported to the RNS Executive Director of the centre "Sovekon" Andrey Sizov. At the same time, grain stocks will continue to grow, and this can lead to a collapse of prices, analysts warn.
"Next season we expect new records - 40 million tons of grain as a whole", — said Sizov.
According to "Sovecon", the total grain exports in the new season is expected to be 39.9 million tons, including 29.2 million tons of wheat, as well as 5.8 million tons of maize and 3.5 million tons of barley. This season 2016/2017 grain exports are estimated at the level of 37.1 million tons, including 27.6 million tons of wheat.
The high volume of exports in the new season is expected amid another high yields and record carryover stocks, said Sizov. But, despite record exports, grain stocks will continue to rise, and, according to forecasts of analysts, will grow by the end of the season 2017/2018 to 26.1 million tons compared to 23.9 at the end of the current season. Market stocks of grain will grow from 19.8 million tons to 21 million tons. Wheat stocks will rise to 18.3 million tons, the market — to 13.6 million tons.
