Total world milk production increased in 2012 by 16.9 mln tons compared to 2011, 27% of which (or 4.5 mln tons) were marketed globally. Share of China, including Hong Kong and Macau, totaled 30.8% - 1.4 mln tons. The country’s annual import growth reached 30% and totaled 6.1 mln tons.
According to DDB, Russia is the second country among TOP-10 largest dairy importers 2012. During this period Russia imported 5.3 mln tons of dairy products on milk basis, what is 16% more compared to 2011. Total volume of marketed globally milk reached 28.9 mln, 18% of which were imported by Russia.
